Since I have to pull the engine apart to do the piston rings, I want to take the time to change the crank shaft bearings.
Can I just buy standard size or do I have to get bigger ones?

did you spun any bearings? if you didnt, then get reg size.

I would also *highly* suggest you have your crank bearing journals polished by a machine shop. This ensures prober bearing break in, and they will also mic the journals to see if they are in spec.

How much would this cost?
The engine doesnt have more then 500 miles, but it ran with oil mixed in coolant so I wanna do this all once.

That's really a tough call then with only 500 miles. Best thing to do is to take a good look at the journals, and maybe even have a machine shop just look at it, for a second opinion. I suppose if everything looks fine, then just a new set of bearings would be ok. Just going to have to see what they look like. Not too sure on the cost of crank polishing, but I'd figure in 40-50 bucks.

If I were you, I'd just pop new bearings in and plastiguage each one. If you are out of spec, then take it in to a machine shop, otherwise, don't worry about it.

There really needs to be damage to the crank before you ahve to worry abotu oversized bearings. Then the crank would need to be "turned" (material removed)

Yes, you want to do the mains as well.

So what do you supose, I just plasti gauge it and put in the bearings. If its out can i have it polished and use standard bearings?
