I've got low compression due to bad piston rings, the engine hasnt had more then 500 miles on it I believe (lots of bad luck). Im looking just for stock or better piston rings, not trying do any drag racing or/and break the bank.

Also when redoing the cylinder walls, should I just hone them and put in the piston rings or have it bored... and put in bigger piston rings?

check you cylinder walls, if they arent scored, just hone. overboring will need bigger pistons.

Well the pistons went bad cause of the thermostat which overheated and blew the head gasket. In the cause they are scored, how much do you think it is to over bore and replace with stock or better pistons, nothing expensive.

If the cylinder walls are scored, you will need to have the block bored oversize. If you are still on standard size pistons, then you can go with a .020 overbore set of stock pistons/rings. Not sure how much they are from the dealer though. Machine shop prices very greatly, but figure 40-60 for a bore/hone job, and and maybe more if you want the block hot tanked, ect..You will need the new pistons with you when the bore job is done also.

You should be able to pick up a set of oversized factory replacement pistons for around $200 if memory serves.

Alos is ITM a good brand? I want to stay at a low cost but not buy crap.

What they are telling you is that if the cylinder walls are too scored to just hone then the block will need to be bored out. If the block is bored out then your current pistons will not fit into it and you will need to buy the appropriate piston that compliments whatever bore was done on the block. If you are intent on rebuilding the short block then just figure out what condition your block is in. That will dictate what type of pistons and rings you want/can use.

ITM isn't bad...I used ITM pistons/rings/bearings for my 2.0 SOHC 4G63 motor in my 91 Galant winter beater...so far so good...They make a lot of OEM replacement engine parts.
