Wondering if you can use the 4G63 turbo rods in a 420a block.

no no ones ever tried it, and for good reason.

the 4g63 motor is a mitsu motor

the 420a is a dodge neon motor

they dont share any parts, at all, and cannot be modified to do so

4g63 has a larger stroke that a 420a so that is why it def will not work.

I think they could be made to work.

Melt the 4g63 rods down. Build a cast of the 420a Rod. Pour the molten metal in the new cast. Get them drilled taped, bored. Voila! 4g63 rods in a 420a.

see, everything is possible with a little work.

Thanx for making a new guy feel welcome. Anything is possible and you don't know until you ask about it or do it. I guess it really doesn't matter since the motor has a hole in the block. This is the 1st non turbo we have done, we usually do 1g turbos so we have a lot of parts laying around which was the reason i was asking about it. I searched this site and others trying to find out and couldn't find my answer therefore i asked....

Give it a try and take pics... let us know what happens. Im sure some ppl are curious to see if someone can make it work or not.

I bet not many of you guys have compared the journal size between the 2 cranks... ;)

If i remember right, (been a long time since i looked) the 420A actually has a larger journal. Don't quote me on that, i just don't have the inclination to look at the FSM for the numbers.

If I remember right, you can use Honda b16 rods though. :P

They're close, but i think you still have to take some metal off the crank journals for it, and the small end diameter is probably wrong. Rebushing a wristpin is cheap though. Haven't checked those numbers either.

If there's a cost difference of a significant amount, it may be worth getting the numbers and comparing them. I can't see good B16 rods being any cheaper than a 420A Eagle though.

I bet that they could be found cheaper, used. Lots of stolen Hondas get parted out on various forums. I bet that one could get a set of B16 Pauter rods for cheap. They might even be legitimate, as I am sure that there are people who part built B16s to raise money to swap or build a B18...
