83702, 2.4L Fuel Questions
Posted by DSM2GNT95, Dec-21-04 01:30 PM
I have been doing alot of research on the 2.4l swap here lately and was curious if our stock fuel system can feed the 2.4l...I'm looking to do the swap this winter and running n/a for a little while then putting on a turbo once I get everything worked out...Thanks in advance

I would think that, if you were going to go to the trouble of fabbing custom motor mounts and oil pan, you would just rebuild the 2.4L before you dropped it in. Makes more sense this way. I guess, though, if you really wanted to, you could still use the stock fuel system, although a drop in Accel runs under $120. Hardly worth the worry imo.

Besides, I'm pretty sure everyone doing this is removing the balance shaft system, so you'd be flying completely solo if you wanted to install a box-stock 2.4L. :shrug

OK first things first

Take out balance shafts...cap off oil feed to balance shafts...thank turby and me later for the free HP

Fuel system wise...you "should" be able to use the stock fuel system if you raise fuel pressure/larger injectors...but why trust the stock fuel system??

Goning HALF assed on a 2.4 swap is not the right way to do it.. a well build 2.0 would be better than a half assed 2.4....go all out..then its worth it

just get some 24lb injectors like the NA 2.4L neon guys do over at neons.org, 310's will work too. stock injectors...:nono

well there is two ways to increase fuel, either get larger injectors or raise the fuel pressure. to double the flow you need to increase the pressure 4X....IIRC. with a 2.4 you dont need to double the fuel however because the 2.4 is ~20% larger than a 2.0 so it needs ~20% more fuel.

basically what im saying is yes, it can work with stock injectors by just raising the idle pressure, but personally im not a fan of retarded huge line pressures.

neons.org is a great site for the mopar 2.0-2.4 guys, check it out and search the archives up
