What kind of hp gains will you get from boring your 52mm TB to 55mm? Is power really noticable?

About 5-8 I think. Maybe that extreme420a site can do it. Not sure yet ask PuRe RaGe.

I think 5-8 hp is very optimistic on a mildly tuned car. Maybe you could get an extra 5-8 hp on an engine that was already pushing 200+. On a mildly tuned car, I wouldn't expect any noticeable power. What you will notice is a great increase in responsiveness. The car will jump when you press the throttle. Its alot of fun around town, until you get used to it.

"Its alot of fun around town, until you get used to it." So is every mod Corbin... that's why we can never stop modding!
I do think the bored TB is worth a few ponies at the wheels though.

Hey guys-
Kory told me that having a bored TB will mess up your idle- now is this because it isn't installed right? have you guys had idle problem after replacing your regular TB with a bored one?

Well cory is like half right! Mine does seem to want to idle high when comming down from high rpms, and you will probly not notice any difference in HP, but it will "jump" quicker!!!

Mine idles great, right around 750-800rpm just like it did when stock if not a touch lower... If your don't tighten down the TB enough or create some type of vacuum leak during the install, yes your idle will mess up.

Mine idles like stock too. I dont know what it would do alone but I put it on at the same with a home ported intake manifold that had been professionally port matched to the head and TB. I dont know if tire spinning where you couldn't get it before could come from better throttle response but I definately think those together were good for as much as an intake. First time I blipped the throttle I knew this would be good and I hadn't even taken it out of neutral. Felt like the flywheel dropped 10lbs just with the ease it revved in nuetral. I spent the whole 1rst two days spinning tires in 1rst from a roll where I couldn't before. About a week later it was back to feeling as it always did. My next mode after that was turbo.

look back on the pages from the past two days or so, we have been talking alot about bored TB and idle issues. look for posts like " F**KING idle" and "guys who responded to F**KING idle" youll get some good info. but for the record, idle issues dont seem to bother those uf us with bored TBs. go for it!

ok, I'm sold on that and a pacesetter header as my next mods.. Howell is a good place for the header, but what about the throttlebody? who does that and how much? I'd rather just have mine bored than buy a new one bored, due to cash reasons.. I live near Boston, MA and every performance shop I've called has no clue what I'm talking about. (then again maybe its me)
