83676, Engine rebuild in progress, what should I do? Posted by Onemean96Rs, Dec-20-04 06:42 PM
I am currently rebuilding my eninge, I thinking of ordering the long rod kit from Howell in either the 10.5 or 12.5 flavor. After that I will have around $800 left to spend, what would you guys recommend me spending that on? I want to get the most bang for my buck, but this is my first go around with an import engine. Also what mods would go well with the 12.5 pistons if I decide to go that route? Thanks for your help guys.

That's actually kinda funny since the money I'm spending is my PELL grant refund.

Spend it on the engine rebuild kit. Or everything you would need at the front of the engine, i.e. timing belt, bearings, tensioner. Or a good clutch. Good luck on the engine build.

Buy the 8.8 rebuild kit for a grand, then use the left over for the turbo kit. You will make 2x the hp than if you build a 12.5:1 block.

I would love to go turbo on the car, if someone can tell me how the heck to get all the parts I need to acomplish that for $800, I'd apreciated it, because either they are far smarter than I or got a hell of a hook up.
