I have a completely disassembled block with a deep gouge in the #1 cylinder wall. I have not checked the see exactly how deep the gouge is, but I'm suspecting it is between .03-.04. I was wondering if anyone knew if our blocks can be sleeved or not. I am either going to be making a trip to either the salvage yard or the machine shop soon. I need this answered to determine which. Thanks Mike.

no. to my knowledge they cannont be sleaved. i have never heard of it being done anyways...

Sure, you can sleeve any motor. Why not just deterine if it's shallow enough to be overbored. JE makes .040" over pistons.

I am aware that JE makes pistons that are .040 over, but even at that, if the gouge is more than .020 deep then boring .040 over wouldn't remove it considering boring an engine .040 over only removes .020 of material around the circumference of the cylinder.
