Lately Ive been noticing a fuel smell coming from somewhere in the engine compartment...i see nothing on the ground so idk Is there anyway to test the system to see if there really is a leak??

Pop the hood and look between the head and the throttle body for the fuel line fitting. It's the hose that goes to the fuel rail. It will have two legs coming off the sides with some very unique little bolts holding it on. Between the rail and the hard lines (pipes that run from the tank/pump forward) is the hose part of the fuel line. Inspect it and it's connections for cracks, wetness and that they are secured properly. If you drive a 95, your fuel filter is on the firewall and looks like a little can with banjo bolts on it's top and bottom. Check them as well for the same.

You might start the car and take a look at these items when they are pressurized, but do not mess with them too much while the engine is running. Also, should you decide to replace the fuel filter (assuming you're a 95 with the bay filter there), make sure you depressurize the system before breaking torque on those bolts. Either pull the fuse for the fuel pump (or maybe it's the relay, I don't recall) or pull your back seat, open the access port and unplug the pump. This is what I do and after you crank the car a second or two, you run the lines "dry" and effectively depressurize the system.

Good luck. I wouldn't advise smoking around your car until you track this one down. If you were local, I might give that a shot. :P

if fuel is leaking do not start the car........common sense

on the drivers side fire wall there are two relays. the one closest to the clutch master cyl is the fuel relay. Unplug the relay and pull the plug out just enough to jump it. you want the terminal in the front and rear of the plug, they will look like the blades of the connector are perpendicular to each other. when you jump those pins the pump will hum to life. now you can feel around for the fuel leak.

wait my mistake the fuel relay is the relay closes to the master cyl not the clutch master cyl resevoir...again sorry

Coming from a man who was smoking when John's fuel line --> SFMU was pouring fuel down his firewall.
