So I have a 95 talon. First fuel injected/throttle body car I've ever had. I've put 12k miles on it in the past four months. I did the timing belt about 3k miles ago. That's just some history on it for you guys. It's also an auto.

Recently I've noticed that when I first start it, it idles pretty crappy. Didn't do this until recently, like the past two weeks. If it hit the gas and get it into it's "high" idle, it's fine. It's also fine once it goes into gear and I'm driving. It just doesn't idle well when it's first started and in park.

Also in the same time frame (since the first snow storm really), it's had a few odd characterstics when driving. When I leave from a stop (in first gear), it will "stumble" or "hesitate" until it gets above 1500 or so rpms; this is only in first gear. I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, you can just feel it sort of make a few little jerks when it's accelerating.

Any suggestions/hints? I think I'm going to pull the plugs this weekend and see what they look like. I'm not sure how to adjust the idle/fuel mixture and such, since I don't think there are screws like my beloved carberueters. I think all this is done by the ECU on the car? I wonder if maybe the 02 sensor might be going, that's what determines the fuel mixture?

There is no check engine light yet. The only other light that has started to show up lately is the brake light for some unknown reason, and that's intermittent.

Wires, plugs, coil pack. How many miles are on the car total? Fuel filter ever been replaced?

152k on the car. Fuel filter is the same as when I got it. Where is the fuel filter on these cars? Again, I'm used to it on a carbeurated car...

I haven't looked, but I assume coil packs means it's some sort of coil on plug set up? No distributer?

Fuel filters on a 95 are located on the firewall pretty much near the bottom and to the left of the windshield washer reservior.

dude I was always a carb guy......I could tune the shits outta a holley for real.But every thing you will need to know is here and that isn't even close to a fib. They have put the biggest base of info on the net about our cars here.You have found your new home if your serious about your car.

IAC motor? My car weirds out at idle too cause of that stupid motor. I ordered one once, but got ripped off and still have yet to fix it.

yes fuel filter is one of my suggestions. If you've never replaced it before than its probably a good idea to replace it now. Should help smoothen out your idle a bit.

I think it's mostly a cold situation. Once it warms up, it seems, fine. When I left work today, it was pretty bad - felt like it was at half what I had the throttle at. I'm starting to wonder if its the trans. I'll look at the fuel filter this weekend if I have a chance, but I'm not sure if that's the problem. Whats this motor that you mentioned?
