82444, Replaced clutch w/ Spec 2 but..
Posted by ECLiPSE56, Nov-04-04 04:34 AM
Is it normal for the clutch to sound like something is scraping? A day after the clutch install I noticed a sort of scraping sound underneath the hood. Sounded like the clutch or flywheel is scraping something. Is this normal for a brand new clutch? I have yet to break it in still. I get it on cold starts usually.. and after a few mins of driving it goes away. When I push the clutch all the way down it goes away. Watcha think? Normal or should i call the shop? Thanks folks.

might want to put this in the tranny section.

I would say it isnt that serious if it goes away once it warms. A lot of people report chlutch chatter and with the same simptoms as you ( it goes away when you press the clutch in and once its warm).

Did you bleed the slave cylinder?

If it was an awful sound or if it did it constantly I would check your bolts and how everything went back together.

i have a spec stage 2 and it never sounds like it's "scraping" it clunks when it grabs hard and you can feel it but i never hear a scraping sounds or anything similiar to that. Good luck with finding out the problem.

do u have any chatter or problems engaging the clutch? Rough engagement under load or when slipping it in low RPM's? When i got my spec clutch it came with a new TOB though.

Clutch works perfectly.. i luv it.. juss that damn chattering scraping type noise bothers me.. shouldn't a shop know to change a throw out bearing? i'm not sure if my clutch came w/ one.. i already broke it in w/ 600 miles.. thought it'd calm down by that time.. but still does it on cold starts .. still think it's the TOB?

Dont be surprised. A lot of them dont really care.

I would have looked at your old one and the new one and made sure they look the same and have the same dimensions.
