97 GS.

Engine installed. Car cranks over. NO SPARK. Fuel pump primes, and I am getting fuel to the rail ( confirmed by "test port" ).
ECU humms and seems to get power.

I checked/swapped/replaced:

ASD relay ( fine )
Coil ( fine )
Wires ( fine )
Fuel pump relay ( fine )
Starter ( fine )
Battery ( fine )
Camshaft sensor ( fine )

WHAT THE HELL AM I MISSING???!!!!!!!

What else should I check?????!!!

Got 12V+ at the coil pack (middle wire) ?

No? Not at all, ever?

Got 12V+ on the middle wire of the speed sensor plug? Yeah?

Then they're backwards. Fix it.

Dino, pardon my ignorance on this subject, but I am ssssoooo frustrated at this point that I dont know how to think. Can/do I check for 12V at the sensor that connects to the rear of the transaxle? That's the only other sensor I see besides the back-up-light on the tranny.

ok dude, remember i was having the same problem. well i took it to the dealer to a guy that i know. he spend three hours tracing wires and eventually ended up cutting the ??e-tacs?? wire and he said that that got it running. i just got off the phone with him and said that he thinks it was grounding something out somewhere and that only way it would run is if he cut that wire, so now my speedo doesn't work. i'm so royally fucking sick of my car it's disgusting. if someone wants to speak english to me about this ?e-tacs? bullshit i would greatly appreciate it. i've never heard of e-tacs in my life, he said it was something that controled the alarm system and stuff, but i dont have an alarm, i dont even have power windows, door locks, moon roof or anything.

ETACS = ATX transaxle control comuter. aka TCU.

check the harness that connects the rear engle sensors (ie: cas, voltage reg, oil pres.) i had mine unplugged, and i thought i seen it pluged in.

Check the FSM.

well, i did a little bit of searching and found that etacs means Electronic Time and Alarm Control System. i'm not sure what exactly it's timing or how it relates to me not being able to start my car. i don't have the factory service manual unfortunatly, all i have is a stupid haynes manual.

Ok, so today, I checked for 12V at the coil harness. I couldn't get a reading. Coil tested fine. I also went ahead and tested the harness connection at the crankshaft position sensor. I could not get a reading on that also. So no voltage on either of those items as far as I can tell.

What should I do at this point.

I am so torn right now.....

......buy a gun and kill myself.....( prolly not ).......

......or buy a HUGE FUCKING HAMMER ( and beer ) and BEAT THE NON-STARTING SHIT OUTTA THIS FUCKING CAR!!!!!!

ok this is kinda interesting... the guy at the mitsu dealer i took my car to explained to me that because this etacs wire was grounding something out somewhere, it somehow did not let the computer send any signal to either the cam position sensor or the coilpack. i don't know. my car has been acting up again and it's only been home from the dealer for two days. i hate my car.

Are you sure you have all wire connections plugged in? There is one in particular that is above the trans, next to the head. It's just a simple male/female plug and socket, that doesn't go to a sensor. The motor won't run if that is not plugged in together. Maybe double check to be sure...Maybe check all of your underhood fuses also..if you haven't done that already.

I know that there is a female harness connector that is not plugged in. Its fairly large, but I do not see anything that it could connect to. AFAIK, everything is plugged in.

Would it be triangular shaped? If it has more than one or two wires in it, that goes to something for sure..

Yes it is kinda triangular shaped. I have no idea where it could go. I have looked and as far as I could tell, everything was hooked up.

Do you have any idea off the top of your head, where that harness plugs in?

maybe you took take a picture of the wire to make sure that it plugs into something?

orrr look for that same wire on your other 420a engine and make sure the wires are all matching up?

I plan on looking on the green car to see if there is that plug and where/if its connected to anything. Its just been too cold outside for my blood to want to mess with cars all that much lately.

Look anywhere and everywhere above the trans and next to the head, for a plug. It's got to be there..could have gotten tucked under something..but it's there..If I remember right, that plug sends power to the coilpack and injectors, and possibly a few other things..I want to say that plug that you need sort of jets off of one of the main, thick wire harnesses right ontop of the trans..

Thanks, I will check it out next time I go over to see the car. See if I can find something that it connects to.

It's there Jon. It sounds like you missed the connector that connects the upper harness with the lower harness, esp. since the crank sensor is getting no power as well.

Hey Kirby!!! Have not seen you around here too much latley!! Good to hear from you. I will most definitely check for that connection that I seem to have missed, as soon as I can get my lazy, cold weather hating ass out to the car.

Well I really feel like a dumbass. Turns out XtremeRS was right. I missed a connection on the wiring harness. The reason I didn't find it sooner was because the cruise control box mounted under the intake mani- was blocking the other end of the connector. Plugged it in and the car started right up. PURRRS like a kitten.
