81744, WRONG FUCKING BEARINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by DegreE, Oct-14-04 11:14 AM
Today I finally got my main/rod bearings....
I installed the top main bearings with no problem... everything matched up perfictly.
Then I go to install the bottom main bearings in the bedplate and all of the notch are on the wrong side! Instead of being on the right side of the bearing, the notch is on the left side! They dont fit.
I dont understand, they all came in one box and the box says:
MAIN BEARING MITSUBISHI 4A20
yes... the box says '4A20'.....not 420a. WTF?????????????????
Is this a Neon thing or what???
I'm sooo fucking pissed off! Now I gotta wait untill tomarrow becasue the fucking parts store is closed now!

You have a 95 block. Buy another set of mains, use two top halves, or search around and find the name of the company (and the part number) for the 95 420A main bearing set with the correct notches.
They're the right bearings, just for a 96-99 block.

What would that have to do with your bearings? Unless you cut the crank down, you use standard sized bearings. They don't go in the cylinder :-P

Fucking hilarious if you ask me. Of course, the fact that the engine is out of the car again is not funny, but this post made me smile. LOL :thumbsup

GAH! I hope that NO PART of your block is .16, .20, or .250 over! That's somewhere between 1/6" to 1/4"!
Don't forget the zeros after the decimal point. They make a big difference.

How the fuck can I have a 95 block... my car is a 98.
Do you mean I have 95 bearings?
Well, I'm going back to the parts store to return these.
BTW: The picture of the bearing is hilarious... made me feel better that I'm not the only jackass who fell for this bullshit. lol
I cant wait to sell my car and get a 1g AWD.
420a is the suck!

Make sure that they know the difference. If you come back with a bore that is 13MM oversize, I don't want to hear it. :P
