Just got done doing the timing belt this weekend. Let me know what you think.

Did it at 150k since I didn't know when it was last done. I'm willing to bet it was last done at 60k since the last owner was a tool. Did water pump and normal belts as well. Parts ran me $240 for everything. Took two afternoons minus breaks and screwing with other cars; probably about 10 hours total into it.

Ha i just used a dremmel and cut around the water pump so i wouldnt have to fuk with removing the cam gears.

If you're doing a timing belt you should just replace the water pump ... replacing the oil pump isn't a bad idea either. Better to be safe than sorry when you have it that far apart.

I forgot to mention the worst part of this project was getting that stupid balancer back on. I ended up heating the center with a torch and using a 2 foot 2x4 against the center had a friend hit it with a 12lb sledge a few times. It eventually went on.

I thaught that was the easiest part of the whole thing. You should have Iced the crank and heated the balancer.

I'm too used to putting on an aluminum aftermaket pulley, which is no where near as difficult as the stock pulley.


But even with the stock one, if you heat it long enough with the torch, it should slide right on.
