my car was driving perfectly normal this morning, had good power. then after about 20 mins of driving it felt like it had nothin, very little throttle response past like 30%, i could only really put around but once i was moving it felt "OK" but definately didnt pull at wot, felt like it was bogged hardcore. i figured i had a fouled aplug because my idle was real chunky so i replaced them, no dice. vac at idle is steady at -18hg on my boost gauge, no significant CEL's....

how often do you guys replace your plug wires? i think my spark somehow was weakened by either the coil pack, or the wires/plugs. im going to order some new wires and see how it goes but i wanted to see what you guys think it might be.

sounds like 3 cylinders at idle from the muffler, like im cammed.

they're all relatively new...hmm...even the msd coilpack

maybe ecu then? i'd say check the voltage on the coil pack, but if its only one misfiring then the voltage should still be normal

If it sounds like 3 cylinders, there's a chance that one of your fuel injectors could have taken a dive as well. When I finished my 8 injector setup 2 out of the 4 primary injectors were dead! Good thing I had a bunch of stock injectors lying around. Man, did the engine run weird.

compression test checked out a-ok, phew

i threw in some injector cleaner and held it steady at 2k for a few mins. but still feels reel laggy when im driving.

ner- i was thinking i very well may have a messed up injector. i'm on my way to skrillas in a few minutes to get some extras and see if that does anything

this is a weird problem, usually stupid shit like this is fixed in a day but this has got me and skrilla scratching our heads

how often do you guys replace your fuel filters? mine is reasonably new so i doubt its that

the thing is, i was very low on gas yesterday....and i was thinking maybe i sucked up some dirt or something into one of my injectors and thats whats causing all this

Thats what fugged my injectors last time. Im guessing it stirred things up in my lines and all that hit the injectors. Kust shooting an example out to ya.

Yeah but when I used Toluene (Paint thinner- sorta like injector cleaner) for the first time at 65k miles it broke loose some gunk in the lines and clogged an injector.

The engine didn't rev any worse, it just detonated a lot and probably led to my first stock piston falling apart soon after that.

welcome to the club Josh. I still misfire quite often when doing a wot launch. Still can't figure out what is causing it. So I just shut off the aux fuel pump until all that fuel is expent, then the car runs normal again.

it just has noooo power....im going to go swap injectors right now. (keepin my fingers crossed)

Yeah go back to stock ignition parts. Probably the coilpack. I vaguely remember people complaining about MSD coilpacks... and ignitions for sure.

i threw in newer 7e plugs and drove it around and no more misfire codes.

i hit the throttle more than 10% and it stumbles, not flat on its face stumbles but i can feel it in the pedal, its real weak. once im moving its not so bad but its still definately there. kinda sounds like a pop pop pop pop pop pop when im giving it more throttle, but really soft

i have a 96 and josiahs is a 97 (diff pin style) so i cant really swap that many parts without chopping and wiring which would suck

had the engine idling there, yanked the plug wire from number 1 on the coilpack...didnt get shocked, and the idle didnt change

its gotta be the coilpack

yeah the only way to find out if it is the coilpack is to get a multimeter and check the resistances. the resistances should be out of range if they're bad. your symptoms does sound like what happen to me a few weeks ago with my MSD coil, then i changed to the Scream'n Demon and no problems since, i had the same code as well.

i have been having this same issue ever since i put in my msd coil pack. i took it back out and am still sputtering every now and then. its pissing me off big time. i throw a code 43 about once a week now and that's with the stock coil back on. i replaced the plugs and checked my wires but still haven't licked this issue yet. i feel your pain bud...chris

yea the thing is, my msd coil has always been there for me man! and cyl 1 just straight up got up and left! didnt even leave a note or nothin, lol :+

my msd coil pack lasted like ass. I think at most I got 20K miles on it. I then put in a stock coil pack from autozone and it blew in a week, so I returned it and got a new one and now its been good for the past 3 months. I think the MSD coil pack may be a piece of crap. the stock autozone one seems more reliable. I have replaced 5 coils since I got my car in 1995. I think my msd may be messing with the lifespan of the coil.

yea my msd lasted right around 20k miles and then just decided to stop firing cylinder 1...

i think heat may be a factor with this thing, a lot of engine bay heat cooks this thing against my valve cover and black hood...so maybe electronically its just not shielded enough, who knows

i was going to ask about that, i have a header with no wrap on it, and i also have a black car. i was wondering if that might be part of the cause. sounds likely...chris
