81467, NO fuel, NO spark, NO CLUE!!!
Posted by ughhhead, Oct-08-04 08:11 AM
I have no spark and no gas. Lickscissors on here, let me swap out my crank sensor and my cam position sensor with his. Neither one of them helped. I replaced both relays on the firewall with new relays. All it does is crank. I actually bought a used computer on here because i was convinced it was the computer. When this first happened last friday,i put a computer from a 96 ATX in and it worked well enough that my car would drive fine until i got the one i bought from here. well on wednesday night my car died on the way home from school. all it would do is crank. i pulled my plugs, connected them to the plug wires and put them on my intake manifold to watch for any spark and didn't see any spark. Also there was no fuel smell at all, i am definitly not getting any gas. it's all this little shit that has been going on lately and it's making my think about selling my damn car. please help. thanks.

Your getting a little out of my league here. No spark and no gas, sounds like a computer problem. As far as I know there is nothing else that would control both of those at the same time.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure there is no spark. That could be a coil pack problem...did you check all 4 plugs...

And no gas...could be a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel line.

Are you sure you don't have a bad connection going into your ecu, sounds like stuff isn't getting power.

did you try listening for the fuel pump to see if it is priming, try swapping in a fuel pump to see if that is the problem, and just outta curiousity did you check all the wires leading from the crank/cam sensor(s) to make sure none of them have been cut/broken/grounded out, you might have a bad wire not sending the signal to the ECU, that could cause a no fuel no spark problem

my buddie had the same problem after motor rebuild and he replaced almost all the sensors, battery, alternator(it was bad)..check if any wires were melted on the egr pipe and check ur ecu wires to the battery terminal..good luck

FlyinESi - I am ABSOLUTLY sure that i do not have ANY spark. I have a screamin demon coilpack that i put in at the end of july, so it's most definitly not a bad coil pack. The spark plugs i have in there now are about 3 weeks old. The fuel filter was replaced less than a year ago. A bad connection to the computer is possible but i don't know how i could possibly find it. all of my wires are in the wire looms that keep them protected.

rydereclipse - i actually took out my back seat just to make absolutly sure that i was hearing the fuel pump prime. the fuel pump primes for sure, no doubt. the test port on the fuel rail gave me a pretty good squirt of gas after i had tried starting it a couple of times. so my fuel pump is working and i have adaquate fuel pressure.

spool - i made sure to check for any wires melted to the egr tube. none are even close to the egr tube.

MCubed45 - i have a computer from a 96 mtx coming soon. it should have been here on thursday because i asked the person i bought it off of to FedEx it. so i might have a getting ripped off problem on my hands.

just to let everyone know, i had done a lot of searching and reading before i posted this topic which is why i'm so clueless as to why i won't start. please give me more suggestions. thanks to those of you that replied so far.

check your timing belt.

i have my upper timing belt cover off and it is very clear that my timing belt has gone nowhere and it is still tight.
i forgot to mention. when i went to try to start my car after i switched out the relays. it wouldn't start for the first two tries. then i figured, i'd give it one more try and then give up.(also before i go any further, i just want to tell everyone that my car is NOT at my house, it's about 4 miles away from my house in a church parking lot) so the third try it fired up. i let it idle for a good while, i went in reverse for about 15-20 feet then i put it in first and after about 10 feet of moving in first it died again and i have not gotten it to fire back up yet. i don't know what else it could be. the fact that i did get it to fire up makes me wonder. i'm totally out of ideas. tahnks again for those of you that have replied. more help please...

I say its related to your ECU, happened to me when I accidently plug the harnesses wrong and like the crank sensor plug was in the coil pack and visa versa, burnt the fuck out my ecu (couldnt see it but it did) I got ecu out of the SAME year car as mine and it worked like a charm. Hopefully when you get your MTX ecu it will be alright, check all your harnesses tho. Good luck

my vote is, if you have checked everything else, ECU

p.s. when you attempt to start it does your check engine light come on at all?

well, when i tried to pull codes, i did the key dance and my check engine light would not blink. so then if it is the computer, obviously i've got a bigger problem cause that means something is frying my computer cause it's fried two computers in under 1 week.

nothin huh? looks like i'm taking it to the dealer then

if the check engine light does not come on then the ECU is not seeing any power, and it is time to replace the ECU, but if it is frying them out then you got bigger problems then just the ECU

I think I have the same problem as you. It only cranks. I plugged a scanner up to it and it couldn't read any codes. Nothing was working. No fuel pump, no ignition, just crank. Then all the sudden, my car just started like nothing happened. This is after 2 weeks of absolutely nothing. My car was sitting in a parking lot and never did jack shit, but all the suddent it started working again. Let me know when you find out what's wrong! Good luck

ok well i had my car towed to my house. before the tow truck came, i got the codes, it gave me cel 42 twice. MFI relay (ASD relay) control circuit is what cel 42 is. so that means something is still wrong with my relays. i'm thinking it's in the wires. i'm gonna trace the wires. is there anyway i can test those relays with a multimeter. help please!
