I have approx 15k miles on my 2.4L block. Would this be ok to use the forged pistons on? Or, should I just bore it .020. The bore now looks to be in good shape.

IF there's only 15k onit and the bores look good just run a hone thru it.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any reason not too, unless there's some scaring or out of round (which I seriously doubt).

I'm sure you could get away with just honing it. However, if it were my engine, I would shell out the $150 to get it bored 0.02" and honed. In the grand scheme of a performance hybrid engine, that's chump change and a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Well theres no replacement for displacement right? I would go ahead and get the bigger bore. I have thinkin about borring my 98 RS then completely rebuilding the motor internal around the new block size but im not sure yet I want to find a monster turbo first so i can spec my motor rebuild to handle the big boost.

Just so you know, there isn't enough iron around the bores to overbore a 420A enough to significantly increase displacement. .020, .040, you'll not see any gains from. at most, you MIGHT be able to get a 2.1L out of it, and you'll have such thin cylinder walls you'll have temperature control issues.

Yeah, if you go to say .040, I think you'll gain at most 50cc (0.05L) and be at 2.05L.

Ahhh hell with boring then. I will put that money towards something to make the car faster. The stock bore is mint and will be the strongest. A light hone and I will be on my way.
