I saw a kit for eliminating the EGR valve on a 98 RS eclipse. Is it a good idea to remove the EGR and put in a plate? Is it even worth it? Please let me know if anyone has done it and if there were any positive results. Thanks

Yes it helps resolve some issues, like melting hoses, and no it's not worth buying a block off kit, if you cant fabricate one yourself, don't worry about it... not worth $$ IMO.

Plates are easy to fabricate. Just get yourself some 1/8" or 1/4" thick aluminum plate, use your old gasket as a template. Cut, drill, sand/touch up and install.

I removed the solenoid on the driver's side of the head and blocked it off there. You can use the solenoid's flat surface that bolts up to the head as a template for that.

I have it on my car. Seems worth it if you can stand having the CEL on all the time.

My intake temps went down about 90 degrees. I think that it was worth it to have cooler intake temps, and not dirty up the inside of the intake manifold.

As already stated, make your own block off plates and/ or dont bother spending the $$ on the kit.
