81269, Will the test pipe fit? Posted by badboyracing, Oct-03-04 09:57 AM
I was browsing through e-bay yesterday and I came across someone that was selling a test pipe(it bolts on to eliminate the cat). He said it fit the turbo eclipse 95-99. I asked the guy if it would fit a 2.0 non turbo 420a. He said that as far as he knew it did. Can anyone tell me if the flanges for the turbo and non turbo are the same and do they use the same catalytic converter. Thanks

correct me if im wrong anyone, but the GST has 2.5" exhaust and the stock 420a has 2.25", so no, it wont fit. (if im correct)

The pipe diameter is not an issue, however the Turbo cat has the flanges welded on at a different angle than the NT Cat. It will not work unless you want to cut the flange and re-weld it, but with that much work it is easier to just buy a NT pipe or fab up your own (the route I chose).

that statement cant be true, i bolted an entire gst catback up to my stock converter and it worked perfectly, so after that i dont see why the gst test pipe wouldnt work

that works, its the downpipe flange thats angled differently
dont buy the testpipe

Correct. Turbo FWD DPs have the flange perfectly horizontal where the Cat meets. On NT FWD is off about 35 degrees. The flange where the Cat meets the Cat-back is perfectly horizontal on all FWD models.
