I was looking at Mach V's web site and saw some cable stiffeners. Basically, it's a replacement for the rubber inserts at the end of the transmission cables. The good - less slop when shifting, the bad - increased vibrations.

I talked to the guy and he said they're only for the turbos. I asked what's the difference and he said the turbo transmission is a different setup than the 420a. I can understand the difference between transmissions and cable lengths, but is the insert different? I guess they're different sizes, outer diameter. I would expect them to be the same.

Now it's got me thinking about replacing the rubber inserts. I'll start looking at Grainger. Maybe I can find a bearing that fits.

get a caliper (measuring..instrument not brakes..) and measure all the diameters you can

I'd be very intested in something like this.. my linkage could definitely use some tightening up

I ordered the solid replacements for the turbo and they fit no prob.

Anybody ever do anything with the shifter side? I know that the diameters are different from each other, but I do not have the dimensions and no handy way to get them.

The shifter side doesn't have rubber bushings.

There is one rubber bushing and one plastic one. I know that the rubber flexes. The nylon bushing, well, it's not metal, so I don't like it. :D

Well in that case, grab some calipers and go to mcmaster-carr or grainger.

That's the plan. I was just being lazy, though, hoping that somebody else has already done this. :P
