I was wondering how much an AEM V2 with a DC header and HKS exhaust would improve the 420A performance over the stock. Also, how much do our cars produce at the wheel?

the butt dyno gain would be very nice but in actuality you wouldnt be making a whole lot of extra power for the money spent. our cars make 140chp stock which would be somewhere around 120whp if that.

allowing ur car to breath will do alot for it's feel of performance, unfortuneately results are not what you would expect. you might get 12 ponies total if you are lucky you don't see drastic improvements until you hit the world of forced induction. Our cars respond very well to forms of FI when compared to bolt ons. if your looking to spend just a few dollars here and there your on the right track!

I woudn't waste your money and time. I'm on my second eclipse....my first of which I stuck N/T and modded...

Then I got this one, and turbo'd it. I regret wasting my time and money on N/A mods.... but everyone has different goals...

modded NT sounds good........but thats about it

An exhaust system will add gains as well as give you the sound you want.


I would just wrap the stock exhaust manifold and downpipe with header wrap and save myself $200+. (I have Greddy from the exhaust side of the head to the rear of the car...)


I have the AEMv2 and there is a noticeable difference from the V1. It is much louder as far as the air in concerned, but I'm not sure how much extra HP, IF any, is produced.

I have now put the 3rd piece of intake/header/exhaust on. I noticed an increase with the intake. I added the header and again felt an increase, it smoothed out the idle and no longer bogged when shifting 1st to 2nd. After adding the exhaust I now feel that I lost power, probably due to less back pressure.

From my personal experience the NT stock exhaust is fine unless you want louder sound or if it is rusted or is falling apart. Maybe this feeling will change after I have had the exhaust for a while.

EDIT - Even more reason to get a turbo or nitrous. Engine is still under warranty though.

If you want ultimate power, turbo it. But Just have a lot of dead presidents to back you up because I know for a fact you'll crack the ring lands on them stock pistons. All in all, the best money you'll spend is by turbocharging it. It's expensive but after you turbo it, you'll be playing w/ the big boys now. And plus, chicks dig that kiiiisssshhhh sound.

GTO's and the V8's are back gentlemen, screw them B series motor, they're just breakfast.
