if i have a header and 2.5in piping with a stock cat and muffler with stated hp limits of around 210-220hp, if i do something to temporarily up my hp to 235-240ish+(forgeting for a moment that boost needs 3in exhaust)(yes im referring to NOS) my question is this: will i do any damage to my exhaust system running that much hp thru something not technicaly rated for that much?

You planning on running a 100-shot on stock internals?

no, i was estimating(optamisticly) at my hp now (160ish?) with the mods i have(and going to) by the time i use n2o, using a 75 shot at most. definatly nothing over 75 shot on stock internals.

2.5" piping is good for 300+ HP. Guys have made that on 4G's with 2.5". My friend made 315 on 2.5" exhaust at the wheels.

Your stock cat converter can possibly cause enough back pressure to limit the HP potential of the NOS. I would highly suggest getting a 2.5" cat to go along with your exhaust piping.

You could do a 2.5" catback for prob less than $200 with a test pipe or high flow cat at a muffler shop.

im a bit ignant about our stock cats. could i just cut the stock flanges off and have 2.5in flanges welded on to accomidate the new piping? or would it still be to restrictive because of the guts?
