80243, WOW Plesantly surprised by Ebay exhaust Posted by scothern, Sep-07-04 09:50 AM
Oaky, so a few months ago I bought a good condition, used muffler off a member here, God I Wish I could remember who it was. Anyway, I finally got to putting it on just for the aesthetics of it. Well its a little louder then I hopped for but you will have that. It sounds real low though and not too ricey.
the bonus is It actually affected my power band. No Dyno sheets, but I notice it on the tach. I used to have no real power until 4K on the Tach, now I get a noticable difference at 3K. Its nice. More acceleration too when I'm cruising in 5th gear doing 70, I can actually accelerate without downshifting. Not to mention my RPMs dropped about 300RPMs when cruising too. Unreal. I cannot believe the way this car responds to mods. Its great!

It deffinatly changed mine, at least thats what my butt-dyno told me, and after i had a full system bent it actully gave me a little more usable torque.People can say what they want but i'm driving the car.

thats what ive been saying for years, who needs a stupid turbo when you have exhaust?! :nuts
BTW if you can feel a 3hp gain that your exhaust gave you, you're a better man than me

My car ran way better when I first put a muffler on it. Now keep in mind the previous owners were idiots and cut off the factory muffler just to make it loud. Not only did it sound like shit but it ran like shit until I put a new on one it.

80336, RE: WOW Plesantly surprised by Ebay exhaust Posted by scothern, Sep-09-04 06:08 AM
Well flame me if you will but I swear the car will actually pull now from 3K on. It used to bog until 4K. I would sware on a bible if it made you all feel better about it. Maybe it wont dyno a difference but I sure as hell feel it. That and the fact that I'm goign from a stock RS muffler with 81K on it. :-)

put ur stock back on. half of it is mental from the exhaust you couldn't hear before, and the vibrations. i couldn't even tell a difference with my udp and its the afx. it did pull this grade a little better....but thats nothing and its like an 11hp mod.

I noticed a big difference in the way my car drove after putting on my muffler. Trust me going from no muffler to something really helps.

Glad you like your new muffler. The only way I can think of where that much of a difference would be felt is if your old muffler was clogged in some way. Anyway, happy tuning!

Nope no questions. Just pleasantly surprised.
Yeah the old muffler could have been clogged. I don't know. Either way I love the "New Found Power".

Size of difference is relative to the user. A muffler can make a difference. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. Whether it makes a big difference or small depends on how the driver perceives it. If you need proof Silvereclipse i suggest you read on how the internal combustion engine operates and study the scavenging affect of camshafts. 2cyl dirtbikes and motorcycles are proof if you want an example.

last time I checked this was about an eclipse not a dirtbike....without doin something stupid like puttin on 1 inch flowing muffler u will NOT feel a difference in a N/A car especially a 2gnt.....

80516, RE: WOW Plesantly surprised by Ebay exhaust Posted by scothern, Sep-13-04 08:48 AM
Well then this muffler came with pre-installed fairy dust dude, because my powerband smoothed way out. I'm not saying that my old muffler didn't have a clog or something either. just the difference I noticed was definatly there.

80524, RE: WOW Plesantly surprised by Ebay exhaust Posted by Chamuko, Sep-13-04 10:38 AM
true, a 2 stroke has different properties then a 4 stroke when it comes to exhaust soundwaves. I think he was just using that to try and explain it a bit better. Some people will notice a slight difference better then ohers, this is especially true when its your daily driver and you have not changed a thing for a longtime.

80571, RE: WOW Plesantly surprised by Ebay exhaust Posted by ForceFed, Sep-14-04 04:37 PM
I believe this guy. It's hard to believe that even a muffler can make a difference but it does. I noticed also when I "replaced/put back" my stock muffler from an Apexi N1. I only took the N1 out because it was so freaking loud, although I do miss it, but I got to be honest by replacing a really good "turbo" muffler, it did make a difference but not a whole lot. More power w/ you silver Eclipse guy. But this doesn't really matter anymore, I went turbo, ehehehe!!!!
