I took my 2.4 block apart and found a monstrocity in the oil pan. Does anyone with the 2.4 still run the balance shafts? What would be the pros and cons of keeping this? Also what needs to be done to get the motor mount to work? A picture would be helpfull.

The only advantage to keeping those balance shafts is to baffle the oil pan. It's a very fucking heavy baffle, tbough, and sheetmetal would be much better suited for it.

if you keep the balancing shafts you can't cut the pan to make space for the downpipe and the cross-member

dont keep the balance shafts. I took mine out and got the crank, and rods balanced. now it runs like a champ! Oh and the motor mount youll have fun with that. I wish i took the dimensions and shit when i made mine, or else i would give u them. Have fun!!!

Yes it worth it to remoove them...they are parasitic loss galore....that and i think you would not have a big enough reserve of oil since they would take the majority of the oil pan capacity

That and you loose 15 pounds of weight meainin the 2.4 now only weighs in 35 pounds heavier

Go ahead and have your crank balanced/polished.....

Make sure to plug the oiling sys for them

you cant keep it unless you really want to get fancy and make your own crossmember just so you can have a nicer idle...not worth it, take them out
