When I start my car it runs fine then it dies in 10-15 mins. I am wondering if anyone has run across the same problem and has fix it. Because I did a search on the forum and found simalir topics on it but the topic was never confirm if the problem was fix.

This is another forum with people the same problem but are still looking for a way to fix it. I think i ran across 7+ with the same problem but they never post back how they fix it.

Please help me. So I can also help others in other forums.

By the way I have a 96 Eclipse RS. I think the problem happens to the 420A engine after reaching alot of mileage.

thank you for your replys. the car currently has no Modded bone stock. I brought the car on aug 23 for $500 dollars because it came with this problem. The car is a 96 eclipse RS 5 speed 160000 miles on it. Temp reads fine(half way). What does CEL mean? well car runs fine for 10-15 mins and just dies (car jerks for a sec and then engine shuts off) on you. After waiting 10-15 mins the car starts back up and runs for a few mins and dies. I plan to replace the motor anyways But I always like to fix things. Also I see over 7+ people with the same problem and i would like to help them out too..(this is what i think whats wrong the PCM but im trying to see if anyone has run across this problem before.) The car will be modify I have over 8 grand buget for it. Currently I have sitting in my room are 97-99 Halo Projector headlights, a pair of z3 fenders, 3 piece set of strut bars, pair of gas shocks and struts, Led m3 mirrors, coilovers, 56 inch Wing and a 97-99 4 piece (fake)bomex kit sitting at my friends apartment. Things I plan to buy or do soon: replace the engine with a low mileage engine and build/work on the other one whiles its out. Also is there any aftermarket PCM for the 420A eclipse? well so far it sounds like an electrical problem, if you say it starts fine and all of a sudden it shuts off. it probably would have to do with the ASD relay circuit, you might have a bad relay or something shorted in that circuit...are you getting a check engine light?
EDIT: also check real REAL carefully around the EGR pipe area...sometimes melted wires can occur around there and can give you that problem.

Good Lord. Get rid of that rice patty in your room. I can tell that you have some potential and have a few bucks laying around. Do it the right way the first time. Build the motor for whatever application you may have in mind (turbo, all motor, N2O, etc) first. We can help with that. I expect to see you posting in the technical forums with some well worded and thought out questions but if see some retarded shit I'm going to be all over you like stink on shit. :)

...And one more thing. The only useful aftermarket PCM is available from Howell however it's pretty much only available for 97 2GNT's. There has been some marginal luck with other years but I wouldn't count on it.

well im going to check on to that and see if it fix it thanks for everything. If doesnt work I'll prolly post it tommorrow.
