I just got done reringing my motor and I put a MLS headgasket in. Now I was up underneath the car today and seen a very little bit of oil on the back of the motor. I traced it up to the HG. Now here's the thing, when I torqued the bolts down, I only torqued them down to factory specs, which I think is like 70 or 75. Is this wrong?

Oh yeah, I am using stock head bolts.

FSM says the following.
INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS CYLINDER HEAD BOLT
(1) Cylinder head bolts should be carefully examined before
reuse. If the threads are necked down, bolts should
be replaced. Necking can be checked by holding a scale or straight
edge against the threads. If all the threads do not contact
the scale, the bolt should be replaced.
(2) Before installing the bolts, the threads should be oiled
with clean engine oil.
(3) Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown
in figure. Using the 4 step torque turn method, tighten
according to the following values.
* 1) Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 33 Nm (25 ftlbs.).
Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ft.lbs.).
2 ) Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 67 Nm (50 ftlbs.).
Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ft.lbs.).
3) Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 67 Nm (50 ftlbs.).
Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ftlbs.).
4) Turn all fasteners 1 .thru 10 90 turn. Do not use a torque wrench for this step.

Caution
1. Always make a tightening angle just 90 degrees. If it is less
than 90, the hgad bolt will be loosened.
2. If it is more than 90; remove the head bolt and repeat
the procedure from step 1.

These look exactly like the directions that I used. Correct me if Im wrong, but wouldnt this just be for a stock oem HG. I would think that for a MLS headgasket there would be different torque specs.

So the way it looks, I was just wrong in the post. Bolts 1-6 are torqued to a max of 50, with a 90 turn at the end, and then 7-10 gets a max of 20 ?, and a 90 turn at the end.

But is MLS different??

sorry but no it's not, the new specs and coming straight from Mopar is...6 center bolts, 25-50-50ftlbs, corners: 25-35-35ftlbs, then turn all fastners 1/4 turn or 90 degrees. i did this and no problems and i've been boosting hard.

Is the FSM Dino hosts updated w/ the newer specs? Hmm.. I just did it a few weeks ago, havent started the motor, hmm, guess i better double check...
