79904, Going from Jeep TB to Neon TB.. (requires knowledge of both mods) Posted by Brent Pottle, Aug-31-04 01:45 AM
Im currently going from a Jeep TB back to a stock TB setup (after over a year with the jeep setup), i picked up a neon TB, and in fact I went to instal it last night and came to the same conclusion about the plastic linkage that is mentioned on here in several other posts.
According to the Jeep throttle mod, i had to reuse my OEM throttle shaft on the JEEP TB, and cut the slot for the butterfly plate to fit where i was moving up to a 60mm plate.
My problem is now I have no throttle shaft to use since my OEM one is frankenstiened into the Jeep Throttle.
I guess my question is this... can i simply flip the throttle shaft, linkage, cable assembly on the neon TB so that it is facing in the correct direction for our cars? if not, do you think that the slits I made on the eclipse shaft will affect driveability or vaccuum or cause any undesirable effects if i were to put it into the neon TB like it is?

The Neon shaft will not work no matter how you put it in.
The expanded openings for the larger throttle plate can allow air to flow by and possibly cause low rpm surging because of unusualy airflow patterns with the plate closed/mostly closed.
To save buying another TB,I'd swap back to the old hacked up shaft and see how it runs, and go from there.

Well i got it all put back together and i now have a Ne-clipse jeepified throttlebody with a frankenstiened shaft.
the wideneing of the eclipse throttle shaft for the jeep Mod had no affect on vaccuum when i put it on the neon throttle body.
Just FYI

Cool. Sorry I came in a little late to this, but I guess that what I would have expected - that it would have been allright. So yeah, cool.
