I know about that movement problem with the shifter and how to fix it (forgot the exact site), but is it the same problem when I'm in ...say...4th gear and can move the stick about 1/2 inch forward and back??? I know the other shifter movement problem said something about if you give it gas, then coast in gear and it moves...mine doesn't. Should there be that little bit of play? It doesn't happen in every gear either.

yeah i have that problem too i think it's the cable thingers. i dunno how to fix it but i'm goni to a yard around here to get a whole new assembly i could pick ya up one at whatever it costs me if ya want. just have to wait till i get up there to getit

I have that problem recently. I took apart the center console to figure it out and there are no nuts or bolts to tighten that'll fix it. It's the rod that moves, I'm guessing that something happened to the cable. Hope someone knows how to fix this, it's annoying.

Basically what happenes to me is that in every gear+neutral the shifter moves up and down about an inch or 2. It still shifts good but it annoying and who knows what kind of wear and tear it's putting on the tranny. HOpe someone knows...

You guys should invest in the Symbroski shifter kit. Hades, I see that you already have shifter bushings. With the Symbroski kit, they give you stainless steel bushings, plus a small metal tube to replace the stock one inside the shfter mechanism. I don't know the exact name for it. It does reduce shifter play a noticable amount. MachV sells it for 35 bucks I think. It's well worth it.

But the question is, is the movement detrimental(sp)? It doesn't seems to cause any wear, just seems something's loose.

Yes the shifter bushing make shifting more crip. But my problem isn't the bushings it's the actual rod. it easily moves up and down a good 1 or 2. Wish I knew how to fix it. It has to do with the tranny likages I think..
