I know most of us build our motors for high end HP and torque but Im really looking for suggestions on how to build a motor with lots of low end torque, high end is great but I want a nice street motor, something that will perform great under 50 mph. Im not into 1/4 mile drags but want a motor that will be nice on the street where I barely ever see speeds over 50mph. suggestions?? any option is welcome, small turbo's/higher compression,etc..

what? thats the exact opposite of what I want, I want power down low, I dont want to wait for the turbo to spool. I want power in the 2000-4000 rpm range. with full torque as soon as possible. I dont care if the motor falls dead after 4000rpm's, my car never sees high rpm's, never sees over 80mph ever. I want a motor where I can give it gas from a light and have good usable torque right away.
I was thinking more along the lines of longer/smaller intake runners,cams that give me low end torque,etc..

Displacement + nitrous. I think the intake runners are plenty long enough as is.

do a 2.4 swap and burnout into 4th. now THATS low end torque. then turbo it and watch the torque curve perk right up

t25 on a 2.2 stroker? hmmm.

small turbo, 2.4 swap, with long rods, higher compression pistons, and some nitrous for fun.

nothing over 50 mph? get out with a few buddys and start pushin!!! lol oh wait thats my car!

Higher compression, mild cams, stock TB, Long tube header, 2.2L would be nice. 2.25"-2.5" exhaust.

Drop some weight on the car, make the engine work less to pull our heavy ass beast.

If you want turbo, get a small one.

HRC Stage 2 with a 16G on 10.5:1 should have power just about everywhere, especially if it's a 2.2L.

Or get a nice potato ... disco potato that is!

EDIT: For those that didn't get it the disco potato is the nickname for the turbo that came on the S15 Silvias. It's a GT28RS dual ball bearing GT series turbo.

go with stock compression and a "small" turbo like a 16g. you will spool low but not bad enough you won't get any traction. Look into some nice tranny mods to get the power to the wheels. Only thing about cams is that you notice most of the change in the higher RPM's. Don't do a shit load of porting on the head either cause that just supports high end and won't do much for you at lower RPM.

i heard the non turbo pt cruiser's tranny has more torque than ours and drops in. figured that be good for n/a, right? ...chris

more stroke = lower torque.

I would opt for a long rod piston and rod set/w possibly some #14 cams. any boost will help with the lower end torque.
also, I know that you are conservative with your A604, but a higher stall converter is really nice. I have a 3000 stall and find it to be very streetable. it seems to be pretty close to normal during normal easy driving.
