ok i have a 98 eclipse gs. ive had the car for about 4 months but it just recently started doing this. sometimes when you acclerate hard at low rpms, it stumbles a bit and hesitates. its not that bad yet, but its steadily getting worse and i want to correct it immediately. also, when you rev it hard, it will stumble at low rpms. when i changed the spark plugs about a month ago, i noticed the number 4 spark plug had oil on it, and i thought that might have been the source of my problems. i did some research and found that a bad valve cover gasket can cause oil to drip down in the plug well, so i replaced the valve cover gasket. the plugs are all dry now, but my problem still exists. i am leaning toward a couple things, but i need an expert to point me in the right direction. im thinking either clogged fuel filter, or arching plug wires. someone please help. the car has 80k on it and is in immaculate shape and it kills me for it to have this problem. thanks

I would try wires from another person's car or just buy new ones. I would deffinately see if someone else has a coil pack you can try before going out to buy one. Just so you know a Screamin Demon or MSD Coil will probably be cheaper than an OEM one from AutoZone. They are 82.99 plus tax there. I highly doubt it's your fuel filter because as I have said many times a fuel problem causes problems across the rev range.

What are your plugs gapped at? What plugs are you running? Also, can see any evidence of the spark traveling down the outside of the plug? Could be the culprit. Buy some upgraded wires if it comes down to it.

im running bosch platinums, which from what i hear are terrible for turbo cars, havent heard much about them in normally aspirated cars though. im not sure what there gapped at, but i remember when i put them in there was a discrepency between what the auto parts store said they should be gapped at and what the manual said they should be gapped at. im guessing i probably went with what the manual said. im gonna check the gap again tomorow and then im gonna swap out the plug wires and the coil pack with my buddys and see if thats my problem. thanks for the help, i cant get any replys over at dsmtuners. peeeace

I'd definately check the spark plug wires and go from there. I had the MSD wires and one boot crapped out and caused damn near the same problem.
