i know about the actual pedal travel bolt. i read about the little master cylinder shaft that acutally goes through the firewall. you said you could adjust that by loosening those two little nuts and turning the shaft. the problem is that i don't know which way to turn the shaft. my clutch grabs in the last inch of pedal travel, the clutch can't be slipped. i'm afraid if i adjust it in the wrong direction, i won't even be able to get it into gear. i need the engagement point to move down about 2-3 inches. does anyone know which direction the little shaft needs to go? thanks

aw comon guys, it doesn't JUST have to be one of those two. the only post with info about the little shaft was in the post where these two where discussing it, so that's why they're names are in the title. by all means if anyone knows a little something about this then please do respond.

The shaft needs to be extended. You do this by loosening the locknut then turning the shaft counterclock wise (this will bring the pedal out, and give more room for the clutch to be engaged).

Just make sure the stop bolt isn't holding the clutch in after you bring the pedal out.

awesome dude, thanks! and i have to ask, how in the world did you get something to hold the one nut while you turned the other?! i saw you ask that in that post that i found but never gave much of a definitive answer.

also, how much shaft is actually left in that grey metal cup looking thing, like is there a posibility that i could totally unthread the thing and get myself into a bigger problem? i guess a better question to ask first would have been approximatly how many turns/revolutions to i spin that thing to get me to where i need it. now i know this won't be a very exact answer, i guess just relative to the adjustments that you made on yours. thanks a ton! :thumbsup

Hey, I used a 10mm boxed end wrench w/ an angle on the back of it to grab the nut, and a regular straight 8mm open end for the shaft. I'm pretty sure on those sizes but not definately. You should actually be able to break that lock nut loose w/ just a cresent wrench, then turn it w/ plyers or something even.

It adjusts a lot in a little, so try turning it a half turn, don't tighten the lock nut, take it for a test drive, adjust as necessary in 1/4 turn increments.
