78495, HELP! Please Posted by extreme97nt, Aug-03-04 01:37 PM
OK Well I did a wet compression test and the compression was even across the board. I also tries pressurizing the cylinders to see if I could notice a rise in the coolent or any air bubbles. I am starting to think Tha tthe problem might not be a headgasket afterall. For those who dont know my problem is the car is pushing antifreeze out the coolent overflow. I am starting to think that my cooling system cannot keep up, however The temperature gauge stays in its normal spot. Unless it pushes enough coolent out to make it overheat. I am also getting a brown residue in my coolent catch can. Could that be burning coolent? I am runnign a 13psi coolent cap and a 160deg thermosthat. I really donot want to rip the motor apart if I dont have to. This problem started when the weather started getting warmer. I origionally thought it was from using the red coolent. HELP!

It does to me as well, is there any oil in the coolant, like brown slicks or really shiney haze on top of the coolant? Also if you are going to pressureize the cilinders to check for leakage, the cilinder must be at TDC with all valvec closed or you will not get the proper results.. Were the pistons at TDC when you did all 4 tests?
