I am about to seal up my tranny and get it back in the car, but I noticed that the plastic seal that goes around one of the halfshafts is in bad shape. My question is can/should I replace this? If I can, how and where do I buy those parts. I tried to knock those loose from both sides and it seemed damn impossible. I hope someone out there knows what I'm tryin to say and will give me a hand.

Must be... if the transmissions are rebuildable at all (which they are, its just not cost effective most of the time)

should stop by your nearest satan parts dept and ask (or wait for someone with FSM cd rom to show up)

I got mine from NAPA online... look up the transmission output seal for a neon... ;)

Look in www.2gnt.com/CAPS/. The MTX section (22) of CAPS is in the www.2gnt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Part_Number_Lookup, so you can even get a part number to bring to the stealership.

Just so you know... it was very cheap from NAPA...

I did one of the seals in my lebaron, but it wasn't plastic, it was metal with a spring. I used a screwedrive and a pair of pliers to pull the old one out, and used a seal driving kit to put the new back in (also used a torch and put it in the fridge to try and make it easier; it was still a pain).

its call an axle seal. its easyer if you get then out from inside the tranny but if thats too much work, then you can be carful with a flat head screw driver or chisel and get the outer edge inward and then pull it out with pliers.

The latter technique worked rather well. thanx again for the help.
