I just did the timing belt on my 95 gs. I changed all the gaskets from the headgasket up, timing belt, idler pulley, tensioner bracket and pulley, tensioner, ps/ac belt and alternator belt. My problem is that my car will start fine most of the time. The times when there is a problem are after I have driven the car, shut it off, and then go to start it an hour or two later. If the car sits overnight, it is fine, so i believe it to have something to do with the car being warm. I will try to start the car, it will start, sputter then die. I then immediately try to start it again, and everything is fine. I am at a loss. Does anyone have any info or solution to this? I have done nemerous searches, but only found topics where the car won't start at all, dies while driving, or cranks then eventually fires. I would never have been able to save my 95(the timing belt tensioner pulley shit the bed) without this site, so I owe everyone a huge THANKS! Hopefully 2gnt will be able to help me out again :thumbsup

it could be a lot of things man...hmm, any cel's? i need some more details. could be anything from fuel to a sensor so lets go with the notorious idle problem on a 2gnt...a dirty idle air control motor.


pull off the IAC and clean the black prong with the 0-ring around it that goes into the throttle body with some wd-40 or some carb cleaner, heres a picture to make things 9000X easier, i highlighted it for you

thanks turbo for the response. No, no cel's. I will check/clean the IAC, and get back to you. When I put the engine back together, I cleaned the pipe that runs from the throttle body to the front of the valve cover/head, there was a bunch of gunk built up in there. I bring this up because I don't know if that is what you're talking about or not. I don't have any idling problems(yet), but I am willing to try anything.
