well recently i replaced my stock coilpack with a new screamin' demon coil pack, spliced in the 97+ style harness and has been working just fine. i replaced the coil pack because a few times i had a check engine light and it would flash "43" twice. yesterday i did my valve cover gasket. i let it set over night and started it up this afternoon. as soon as i started it up it gurgled a little and then idled normal, but then the cel popped up. i let it continue to idle for a few more minutes and then checked my codes. 43 and 31. i don't care about the 31, that's just EVAP crap, but why the 43 again? any ideas as to why i'm still getting a coilpack code?

EDIT: and yes, i cleared my codes after installing the screamin' demon and new harness.

Hey bud, i'm having the same issue. i installed the msd coilpack and it ran great for a few weeks but then i threw the cel 43. so i searched and found that it's usually the plugs, wires, or coil pack. i put back on my stock coil, wires, and some new plugs but it still runs the same. when i start it, it stays at 2k rps until i drive it for a few minutes, and then the idle is eratic when i'm at stoplights. the cel hasn't come back yet though..(??) i posted about it today but haven't got anything back yet either. i feel your pain bro...BUMP!!...chris

i HAD the same problem... first things i would do is make sure your
plugs and wires are good and gapped right for the coil. when i spliced
the new connector somehow we got 2 wires switched up.

once i finally figured that one out and re-did the wiring, it ran
better than it ever had. no matter how 100% sure you think you are
about the wiring, check it with a multimeter and make sure it's right.
