77969, quick question on k&n filter Posted by thefunkpig, Jul-22-04 09:11 AM
about 10 minutes ago i just bought a k&n filter for my 98 GS, and when i opened the box i noticed the bag was ripped a little bit, and i was wondering if the "factory oiled" oil treatment had perhaps dried up? This is the first time i've used one of these things and if i rub my finger on it its a LITTLE bit oily i guess........do u guys think its alright or perhaps should i drive back and try and get a new one? the filter looks sorta grey/pink.

oil doesn't evaporate.
think about it, all that you have is an AIR filter that was exposed to air. exactly what's going to happen when you put it in the car and proceed to use it to filter incoming air. it's ok

And nevermind what I said in your other post about having a K&N for sale then. :P You might pick up a recharge kit after a bit and make it a point to pull your filter and recharge it the night before you do your oil changes for best results. :thumbsup
