I am in the process of changing my spark plugs.. First they are Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs I got at Autozone. It was in the computer under the vehicle and make so I figured it would be ok. And as for tightenig them.. The spark plugs come out easily with 2 turns until lose. So I figure if I am just guestimating on it, I should tighten until it cathes fairly good and snug. Should this be ok. I don't have a torque wrench could it cause potential damage if I dont do it that way?

i never use a torque wrench. just snug them and dont be stupid.

hand tight, then 1/4 turn. or the equivalent to 6-7ft/lbs. dont kill it.

ohh...forgot to mention:

when you install new plugs..do this: take an old spark pug wire and pop the new plug into it. lower it toward the combustion chamber and hand tighten it using the wire as a "ratchet" of sorts. after 3-4 turns, pop the wire off and continue tightening with a conventional ratchet. this will avoid any stripped threads.

speakin of platniums....I use platnium 4s and I heard they weren't good plugs....hurt performance??? any insight??

they dont hurt or help (from what i can tell). huge waste of money though!

there is absolutly no reason to upgrade any component in the ignition system until you have HEAVY mods on the car.

Save your money!
The only benefit of platinum plugs is longer plug life. Plugs perform better when new, so having a longer service life doesn't help you any.
Buy the NGK's, replace them every other oil change.
Using anti-seize on the threads doesn't hurt either.

you have to tighten the plugs to the point where it crushes the metal gasket around it to make a secure seal. but it would be around 1/4-1/2 turn after it's handtight

iv never used a torque wrench for mine either..just use your head. and ill take bosch's (i ran +2's for a while...IMO 4's are overkill) over NGK any day. had to replace my bosch's....ngk was all they had...car has ran like poo ever since. dosent have the git up that it used to...before i changed plugs

what are they gapped at? stock heat range or colder? colder would be better on the spray IMO.

yea, come on now...you dont need to be a rocket scientist to install some plugs :D i even have a torque wrench in my car and have never used it for that

you used platinums with spray?? :whoa i thought that was a big no no? the NGK's come gapped at .05 and they need to be gapped down to .035 or .03 for nitrous, mine are at .035
