77897, problem with torque converter?? car won't drive
Posted by redeclipset, Jul-20-04 10:19 AM
My auto eclipse won't move. I just finished the turbo kit and everything but for some reason it wont drive anymore. The sngine runs and everything so it has to be something with the transmission. I can get it to go in gear for like 5 sec's if i try hard enough and when it's in gear it was making this ringing noise. It just started doing this then the next day it went out. I'm thinking that it's my torque converter and not the actual transmission bc this happens in all gears and everything.

Is there anything else it could be? Also how hard is it to install a torque converter? Do i have to completely remove the tranny and everything? THanks for the help

Sorry I can't tell you what the problem is, but if you want to remove the TC then yes, you need to drop the tranny. If you do that you might as well get a high stall TC that will make a world of difference for you auto.... highly reccomend it.

this is the wrong section. You will get more answers if you post this in the auto section.

I wouldnt be trying to drive it if its making ringing noises. First off check your fluid level, if the torque converter doesnt have enough then it wont move. Also look at it for any particles or anything that doesnt look normal.

Yes to take off the torque converter you have to take off the tranny. Its somewhat like changing your clutch(if you were MT), but much more elaborate and messy IMO .
