After getting a ton of cels last week, i bought a new asd/fuel pump relay set, coolant temp sensor, checked all wirings and so forth, got rid of all cel's and now im here. Car runs fine in the lower rpm range, around 35-45mph. Once i hit 55mph the car will slowly start to miss and it gets worse as i go. The wierd thing is that the exhaust note never changes, i cant hear the miss through the muffler, which i thought would be possible. Im figuring im running lean because i dont have smoke from the tailpipe. I also did the clutch check to make sure that wasnt the culprit, in fifth gear the car bogs but still accelerates without slippage. I know the filter is cheap, but i dont want to waste any more cash on this without a little backup. Fuel system wise, ive replaced everything but the filter in the past 10xxx miles. Sensor wise related to fuel, ive replaced the iat, coolant temp sensor, o2, etc.

replace it, youve obviously covered EVERYTHING else fuel wise.

I hope its just not a bad spark plug or wires, ie. cracked insulator (very possible) or,wires arching and shorting out on the head or something like that.

well the plugs are brand new one range hotter ngks and the wires are semi old. If the filter doesnt work then they are next on the list.

what are the plugs gapped at? try 0.045 or so, if that doesnt fix it, PM me i have an extra set of stock plugwires. :thumbsup my car did the same thing, i replaced the wires and voila.

Yeah I would suspect a plugwire since the miss doesn't happen all the time. If it did I would say it was your filter. The thing is that since it is at such a high RPM 99% of the time a miss then is an ignition problem. And most of the time it will be a wire.

bingo. the other 1% is fuel. you havent got plug wires yet do0dlet???

turby, i have ngk 8mm's but ive removed them so many times ive probably torn something on the inside. The boots at the coil actually slide up and down now and you can see where they have come unglued.

dude that wire...if its exposed a little it'll ground out to the inside of the head...that might be why its a random misfire. wire bounces around on a bump or by engine torque and it grounds it....i dunno. im just talkin shit, its worked before :thumbsup :shrug
