The one in your instrument cluster is very reliable.

yeah well guess what heres the great part. Some 95-96 eclipse RS's did not come with a tach. Im not kidding. I have a 5 speed RS and it doesnt have a Tach in the instrument panel. Its really gay I know.

The base model Eclipse (not RS/GS) never had a tach. However, i'd bet you money that you could take an instrument cluster with a tach in it, drop it in, and it'd work.

I know. I was showing you I had a good case of 'foot-in-mouth' disease.
Edit: question though. Do you have any badging on the back of your car? The RS was a step above the base model (which you have). The base model didn't have a 'name' so to speak.

No it just said Mitsubishi. My car is normal except no Tachometer. It has air conditioning and such but no tach. Why!?!?!

cuz its a base model. hell, consider yourself lucky...some base models came with no radio, no speakers, no a/c, no rear defroster, no spoiler, steelie rims, etc. like dino said, im sure you could try getting a cluster with a tach and it would work. it sure would look much cleaner than an aftermarket tach. if you had to buy one tho...maybe rig it into the blank where the stock tach should go..dont put it jutting up off your dashboard
