Hi everyone I started up my car today and noticed a ticking in the engine so I checked it out and one of the belts has started to shift to the left. I am not sure which belt it is but it is the one right next to the anti-freze resivoior. Is there any way I can fix it, if not where should I take it, is it safe to drive like that, and finaly what could have caused this? Thank you all for any help you can provide.:bowdown

that belt wraps around the harmonic damper (crankshaft pully), then goes up and toward the front of the car around the power steering pump, then through a tensioner, and finally down the to a/c compresor on the bottom and back to the HD.

is it hanging off of on of the pullies? if not then you are fine. mione used to ride to the left (passengers side) of the pullies as well, so i think its normal. the ticking might be lifter tick from your head, or just something thats loose. make sure nothing has effected the belt travel and you are good to go!

Well I just got back from the shop and one of the brackets is bent, so they have to order the part and after labor it is going to cost me $400. But thanks for the help :)

$400?!?!?! Dude, just order the part and pick up a wrench! No bracket related to your PS/AC belt could possibly be more than a 30 minute job to replace.

Agreed!!! Holy crap man, they are taking you to the cleaners. That belt can be replaced in 15 minutes, even if you've never done it before. The tensioner is right near the AC compressor and is very easy to adjust. Whatever bracket is bent you can probably replace just as easily. And BTW - that belt should NOT walk, it's grooved - if it's moving there's a problem ... in your case a bent bracket.

u can do a lot with $400 but u don't need to waste it on that.......:)

Holy god man...what are you DoInG...this engine is by far the easiest I've ever seen to replace a belt...it took my 10 minutes with a socket set..just do it all yourself...hell, give me 200 and i'll do it for you!:9

The Problem is not doing it my self it is having the time to do it and it's not just the belt, here is what needs to be replaced A/C compres pulley assy, belt, P/S oil pump Bracket. I just don't have the time to do it myself.
