why is my idle rpm higher? Also, it seems like I use up gas faster than without the CAI. Is a CAI supposed to do this to your car?

Well, I believe the CAI will allow more air into the intake. this is registered o nteh ECU and it then dumps more fuel to compensate and keep the same Air to fuel ratio.

No, your idle shouldn't have changed. Take it off and check to make sure the plate in the TB is completely closed.

What does re-setting the computer do? It'll accept the new amount of air flowing in?

take off the negative terminal and leave it off for 10 min.

put it back on and go for a drive. it'll run kinda like shit for the first bit but then your good to go.

Just leave it disconnected for 10 minutes like he said. I've done it and I dont think my radio lost its memory but just give it atleast 10 minutes. As far as gas mileage goes it depends on how often you mash your pedal to hear the "cool" intake sound. Under normal driving conditions it should be the same if not better.

There's a link around here somewhere for resetting the ECU. Basically what you do is unplug the battery for 10-15 minutes. Generally anytime you work on your car you should unplug the battery for safety and ECU reasons. Hook the battery back up and start the car. Do not step on the gas. You'll notice it will rev at about 1500 and slowly drop to 800. This takes about 2 minutes. Once it reaches idle and stays there for about a minute you're good to go. Anytime you do a mod that can affect fuel/air mixture you should reset the ECU. You're gas mileage should go up 2-3 mpg with the new intake. Mine did. Resetting radio stations is a pita, but the car runs fine.

not to get off the subject but could this be a reason for my car runnin really slow ??I have an exhaust leak outta the downpipe but thats the only thing I can find wrong...is my problem only the exhaust leak or could my computer need restarted ?....only thing on my motor is short ram intake...my eclipse is real slow reacting and accelerating...has anyone else had this problem ? if so what was wrong what did you need to fix it ?
