77084, question on fluid types for tranny Posted by siueclipse, Jul-05-04 02:59 PM
ok. ive been doing some research.
i know some people run the mopar stuff, some run 75-90 and some run 80-90.. well.. i was running 80-90.. i switched to the mopar stuff ona recommendation..
long story short, i fried 4th gear and the 3rd and 4th gear synchro is fuckered.. so..
whats the best fluid to run? keep in mind this is a high horsepower system.

Best thing to use is the Mopar fluid from the get go. I'm high performance too, stage 5 and then some. I'll never use anything but the Mopar stuff. History (here at 2GNT) has proven that you're taking great chances using anything else. Some folks have used BG s.m. and stuff but many have failed.
Seriously, use the Mopar stuff.

Yours prolly started to go when using the other stuff, or the switch back made have made it worse.. Use the mopar stuff and never switch it at all. If you go into any tranny shop and ask them for a flush they will tell you nobody makes a fluid for these trannys. Stay with the stock and all will be well. I'm star so I don't have a stage rating but I'm pushing 18-19psi on that T3o4...

^^ ditto.. I bought my car from a ninny that used the wrong tranny fluid.. all was well till i changed it back over to the correct fluid and I welded 4th gear to the shaft...
