Hey guys, quick question. You know the break-in process of doing 3rd gear pulls from 30-55mph 10-15 times. Well, I've got the auto so I was just wondering how I should go about doing these pulls. Do the pulls w/ O/D off? Leave it in 2nd? What do you think? Thank you much.

That sounds fine, but when mine was an auto, the way I did it was either get a stick or sit in the car start it up and let it run at 2000 rpm's for 15-20 mins. That worked really well for me. Then when thats done, of course change the oil again. I was always told, break a motor the way you drive it and thats always worked for me. But if you do it while driving the car, 2nd gear would be the best. You also have to think if you do it the way I do, you can have the hood up the whole time making sure everything looks right and sounds right.

i babied it for the first 50 or so miles. after that i kept it under 3 psi of boost for a couple hundred.

after about 500 miles i was beating on it. just like you said do a few good highway pulls with o/d off and youll be fine.

No I dont have cuz the shop junked it, but I bitched enough and there going to get another and pay the guy to give it a higher stall. Then I will get back to you. I didnt forget and this isnt a shitty excuse, I promise. They also threw away my auto ECU with Jet work done to it. Didnt do crap to it, but they dont know that, so there paying me for that too. I did my pulls mostly in "2". I did my best to pull alot of vacuum when decelerating. When driving, I manually upshifted every gear to keep the TCU from lugging the engine. Sometimes I had to manually downshift to keep the RPM up. I kept the RPM reasonable (below 4k) for the first few hundred miles. Seemed to work OK.

Baby it for the first 500-1000. Don't redline it your first time out, especially if you have totalseals.

Eclipsekaiser and I did side-by-side breakins... he babied it the whole time, I ragged on mine. He had 10psi better compression than me across the board at 2000 miles.

Basically just drive slow..... try not to get onto highway....... baby it with less than 40 or 50mph...... for the first 500-1000 miles

Then, it should be the safest way to break in your car !
