76905, Engine speed increase, but car doesnt go faster Posted by Hamgumball, Jul-01-04 04:59 PM
After around 4000 rpm, the car doesnt pull as fast as it normally would. Are there any other possibilities besides a bad clutch? Timing maybe? Hopefully?

if the rpms start going up, quicker than the car should be accelerating, than it is definately the clutch

sit at idle, put the car in 5th and let off the clutch...if it idles and doesnt die immediately, you need a new clutch.

you can also go drive, and take it up to about 4,500 rpms in 2nd and shift to fifth and just floor it, and if it bogs down ur clutch is still good, and if it starts to rev up, not good you would need a new clutch.

yeah, i test drove a 1g awd talon like that. it would grab sometimes, but most of the time it wouldn't go. try to accelerate slower.. it may catch still.
