76624, Compression and leakdown results...

Well, last compression I had mitsu do was 100 in all cylinders. So, I went to a chrysler garage friday to perform a leakdown test to figure out exactly what was wrong with my car. They were mad cool and let me hang in the service area with them. There leakdown results were in the 0-5% blow by range!! I was shocked and happily comforted. So he then checked the compression as he could not believe the numbers mitsu gave me. He got 160, 165, 170, 165!!! Sweet! Much better than 100 psi an all 4 IMO. A couple questions;

-Are those numbers to be concerned with?

-Will it take a 50 shot nos with those figures? Thanks

a 50 shot of nos shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as you dont use it constantly, since your compression is within range. I did a compression test on mine and got 180 - 180 - 185 - 175 so i am gonna put my HRC kit on soon. but after you use the nos a few times you should go ahead and do a compression test again to make sure the compression is holding up.

depends on your elevation. i get higher than that.and my car has 130k on it. i think the rule of thumb is 15% variance between the cyls max.

agreed. the main thing to pay attention to in a compression test (which is fairly crude but CAN point out weak spots) is the varience between cylinders. the actual numbers arent as important. sounds like you have an engine in great condition to me.
