7660, Is my car worth it?? Posted by All4thaN0okie, Nov-19-01 06:53 AM
Hey guys... I just got 1995 Eclipse RS and it has 107000 miles on it. I want to start making it faster, aka turbocharger exhaust etc. Should I rebuild my engine or get a new one and start from there ...or should I just go get a newer eclipse with less miles? thanks for your help.

If you are going to start to push boost through the motor I definately suggest a performance rebuild. http://www.howellautomotive.com has a rebuilt kit for $1100.

I am only $1099.95 away from getting the rebuild kit. LOL. Maybe after my income tax check comes next year? It seems like modding my car never stops. There's always something else I need.

is rebuilding the internals of the engine basically the same as getting a new engine?

If you get a new engine, you only get stock internals. The howell kit (which I will be getting shortly) has everything you need for the lower end of the motor. JE forged pistons, Eagle Rods, bearings, oil pump, gaskets etc. Its a really good deal considering the price of rods, pistons and an oil pump alone. check it out http://howell.mountain.net/Talon/DSMEngineKits.html
