Ok, im way old school so spare the obvious solutions. (please) :)

The problem:

When the car is hot(only when hot) after a good 30min drive it will not start after it is shut down. I turn the key and get nothing, not even a sound.

The batt is new and I get a 12+ volt reading, Starter is new (not a re man) The problem also existed on two junk yard starters when they were swapped in, the relay is new and has been tested, wires are new and have good solid clean connections.

Any ideas?

Possibly the ecu? :shrug

My starter has been acting flakey too. I think I found my problem though. The ground wire plug on the starter seemed like it wasn't seated fully so I pressed the plug together tightly, so far so good. I think my Greddy header with no heatshield isn't helping either. The starter and the wire connections for it are really close.

only after its hot? probably heat soaking the starter

what i would do is, i know it is gonna be hot, but try hotwiring the starter when it is hot and not starting, that would rule out possible starter failure and let you concentrate elsewhere, i had a similiar problem and it turned out to be a ECU (but now i've got other problems see my post)

Put a heat shield over the starter, noob. :P Did you recently change anything that would affect airflow (Bigger front mount, new bumper, etc.) into the engine compartment?

The real kicker, if you jumper the solinoid wire to the battery with the car hot (when it won't start with the key), the starter will engage and the car will start just fine.

Solution?

Wire a momentary switch from the battery to the solinoid wire. When the car's hot and won't start with the key, push the button.

i had/have that problem also, but i found if u mess with the wires under the steering wheel and by the alarm sensor box thingy it will start :shrug

what im going to do is buy the starter heat shield that caught my eye at pepboys. for 5 bucks its worth a shot at it. If it doesnt directly fit then I shall modify it.

Thats what I ended up doing and it works like a charm.

I had the exact same problem. After the car heats up, it won't start at all after I shut it down. The engine will only start up again once it has completely cooled down. My problem was the ECU. I changed that and everything worked fine again. Try getting another ECU and see if it solves the problem. That's what I did. Hope that helps.
