I have the two bolts loose but still cannot loosen the belt eough to remove. any suggestions? Ive been trying for a half an hour.

how loose are they? i had to loosen them sooo much to get the belt off. keep loosening if you can.

There are three bolts total you will have to loosen. You might have forgotten to loosen the nut which allows the alternator to pivot. You can to get it from underneath the car. Then from the top of the car you have to loosen the locking nut and then loosen the tensioner bolt. As you loosen the tensioner bolt you'll be able to move the alternator forwards and backwards (it pivots on the nut you have to loosen from underneath the car). Eventually you'll be able to push the alternator far enough towards the front of the car that you'll be able to slide the belt off.

Here's a pic of the nut that has to be loosened in order to let the alternator pivot.

Ok i loosened the top one by the fuel rail and the one pictured-which happend to be one of the hardest things to do. Chiltons didnt really help, i'm going back out too see what i can do.

there is a bolt that you cant really see on the firewall side of the alternator that holds it in place. you have to loosen that and it should pivot no problem. fell around for it and youll find it.

agreed, you can get it from the top, i think its a 12mm or something.
