76236, I need some help
Posted by miamilakeseclipse, Jun-17-04 04:31 AM
Hey, I am setting things up for my summer project's, this weekend (i already purchased MSD wires getting picked up on saturday) I am also going to pick up some plugs. I want to get ones that are one range colder than stock (copper if possible). I went on NGK's web-site and I only saw Iridium (sp?). What is the model # from NGK for plugs that are 1 range colder than stock?

TIA,
Mike

This has been covered numerous times man. Go to the advanced search and look for "NGK" in the general or perf/engine forums. You will find people telling you what the stock NGKs are and what the next hotter range is, and you can easily use that info to figure out what the other way is. It's like NGK-BPR5e or 7e or 6e or something. I don't remember since I just grab a handful of random plugs out of that sale basket at the register. (Just kidding - no I don't) :P

I suggest NOT running a hotter plug, the gains are berely even noticable and the chance of cracking the insulator on the plug is high, Ive gone through plugs super quick like that, now I always run stock heatrange cause Ive cracked every insulator of the plugs in under 5K miles and it causes all sorts of bucking,misfires,etc..
