Hey guys
I decided to wash my engine this sunday . After washing it, I started the car and it started well. I moved it a few feet under a roof so i could wash the exterior, and once I was done with that I tried to start the car but the engine started sounding bad and the check engine light came on, eventually the car stalled. I took out the spark plug wires and saw water had sipped in, i blew pressured air and got what i hope was most of it out. The car kept stalling for a few more minutes but after drving it around for a while it got better. Now the car is driving normal, it wont hesitate or stall at all, but the light still is on after 2 days. A friend brought his computer to read the code and it says "cylinder 1 misfire", my question is, could this be from the times it stalled and the code just remains there even though its good now? or should it have faded once it started working well.
Im going to disconnect the battery tonite to see if hopefully it goes away and doesnt come back...I figure if it clears and comes back then i'll know there really is a problem. Like i said the car drives normal and starts with no problem. Thanx for any info you can give me. I dont wanna have to take it to satan..but also dont wanna be driving around if there's something wrong with it.

yeah you probably grounded out the wire for just a bit, when you disconnect the battery remember to hit the positive and negative together to clear the computer's capacitors.

actaully, you can just leave the negative unhooked for about 10-30 seconds and it will clear the codes. if u leave it off for too long, you'll have to reprogram your radio code, which is not good if u cant find it. if you'd like a new set of stock wires, or just the #1 wire I might can help you out. I'd check the plug first though. Goodluck.

Thanx guys! Actually..the damn thing just went off by itself, after 2 days of being on. I know we tried clearing it with my friend's program earlier and it wouldn't clear. Coming back from work though, I stopped to run some errands, and when i turned it back on the CEL was gone. Ive since turned the car off and on again to see if it comes back but it's still off. Hopefully it'll stay off, and I guess next time I'll know not to be lazy and cover stuff when I wash my engine...again hopefuly it'll stay off. Thanx for the info!
